The Works of Jonathan Roy (1973–2026)

Studio J on DeMun is dedicated to sharing Jonathan Roy's many and varied creative styles during the next 12 months.
The first exhibit highlighted a quirky little character in "The Wanderings of Walter" in NYC. October "Interludes in Black and White" themes of place, absence, and the spaces in between. November and December will bring together "Invention and Invasion", his architectural designs exploring urban, suburban, and occasionally cosmic themes. In 2027, Studio J will provide an immense collection of graphic novels highlighting his "Sequential Art": comics, cartoons, and graphic novels. Many original watercolor plates created for the "Smallpox Zero" book (available on Amazon) will be available, all displaying his passion for illustration and water coloring. Exhibits to follow: "The River", a collection of Congo inspired art. Models and Figures, large charcoals on Kraft paper, and finally commercial design, renderings, and his public relations works from his NYC hospitality days. Each monthly exhibit will include sketches, and other miscellaneous drawings: napkin art, watercolors, sculptures and pen and ink works.
Jonathan lived in Warsaw, Poland after spending 26 years in New York City. He received a degree in architecture from Columbia University and grew up in Puerto Rico, Washington State, Congo, and Atlanta, Georgia. His time in New York found him designing and building famous nightlife and hospitality spots, but he always wanted to attack the canvases.
If dining or roaming in historic DeMun, do stop by to enjoy what we hope will be a pleasurable aesthetic treat for your eyes.
